A COVID-19 Response from the Mukti Mission

Hello Resonance Church!

In this time of COVID-19, we are especially thankful for the many organizations that are ministering to the needs of people around the world. They are on the frontlines attending to the growing and urgent needs of the poor and vulnerable. There is even greater pressure to provide life-saving care while operating under incredibly challenging circumstances. Our hope for Resonance church is to support these organizations that have the presence and capacity to minister to others by sharing our financial resources so that their ministries can flourish and continue on. Most importantly, we want to lift these organizations in prayer and remember them as they love and care for those in need.

Today, I would like to highlight Resonance Church’s support to the MUKTI MISSION in India. As you may remember, our church was ready to send a team to Mukti in August, but because of the pandemic, we have cancelled our plans for this year. We are so glad to continue to support this great mission by giving financially to their organization and by upholding them in our prayers.

Mukti Mission is a Christ-centered home for destitute women and children. The Mission accepts, cares for, and empowers these individuals to embrace Jesus and to be the salt and light of Christ in this world. I had the opportunity to listen to a sharing by Lorraine Francis, Director and CEO of Mukti Mission, on how COVID-19 has affected them and what their response has been so far. I was so inspired and encouraged to hear what the Lord was doing through Mukti Mission. I would encourage you all to listen to this beautiful sharing and hear about their challenges, innovations, joys, learnings and their trust in the Lord through it all.

Lorraine Francis (Mission Director and CEO for Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission) shares how COVID-19 is impacting her country and how GAiN is responding.

Through her sharing, Lorraine spoke about how they are “safe and sound inside Noah’s Ark,” but outside there is great hardship because of the spreading virus. Families are going hungry, so they started thinking about how they could be a blessing outside the walls of Mukti to those that are suffering. She shared how the needs are so great but God is showing them how to go out and be salt and light. They are seeing that as they reach out, God is giving them more than what they need and He is giving them joy and satisfaction in serving. God is moving in their midst, giving them many opportunities to reach out and though they are fearful, they are moving on and turning that fear into faith! They have been distributing food packets to migrant workers, sex trade worker families and outreach worker families and have helped over 1500 families so far! Glory to God!

Lorraine also shared how the Mukti hospital is the only hospital welcoming people, and tells of a one-year-old child that had an accident and burned his leg, but no hospital would take the child. But Mukti welcomed the family in the name of Jesus and treated the child! People have been sharing how they thought Mukti was a place that needed their help, but it turned out to be the opposite!

At Mukti, they have experienced revival, where the staff are experiencing the power of Jesus and they want to do more. Many of the staff have testified that they have become bold through this time. They are saying that this time of COVID has changed them because God has allowed it for their good. They are excited by what is happening in them and through Mukti, and so are we at Resonance!

Let us lift this mission up in prayer and praise the Lord for what He is doing through Mukti! Let us pray for His protection on them as they walk in His ways. In this dark time, Mukti is standing as a lighthouse, a beacon of hope and light. All glory to God!
