Many of you are familiar with author and apologist, C.S. Lewis. Some of my favourite quotes are from him and this one about humility is from Mere Christianity. In the book, he says "True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less."
Thinking of ourselves less works in conjunction with thinking about God more. When we take the time to acknowledge the depth of the Father's love and mercy, the greatness of Jesus' sacrifice and the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, we are able to see ourselves less.
Teaching children the concept of humility isn't easy because they most often see themselves as the centre of their universe but whether they fully understand or not, we can still begin the practice of remembering and thanking God for what He's done! Read through this week's devotion with your family. In it, you'll find a kid-friendly (Lightning McQueen, anyone?) example of pride versus humility.
