I can imagine how difficult it must of been for the Jewish-Christians in Galatia to wrap their heads around faith versus works and law. For so many years, they lived and believed in a works-based, law-following world. Now, they were required to shift their understanding of salvation to believe that it is only achieved through Jesus Christ.
Paul reminds his audience that the Abrahamic promise came before the Mosaic law (Galatians 3:17). In other words, the Christian inheritance comes by promise, not by law. Paul writes, again and again, that it is God first who offers grace and neither good works nor obedience to the law will save us!
This week, we continue to help kids understand the difference between grace, good works and the law by looking at the life of Abraham. The younger ResKids will be watching a Theo Presents video on Abraham's Saving Faith while the older kids will learn about God's covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2: 8-9, ESV
